OHIO ACEP ANNOUNCES TWELFTH ANNUAL EMS STAR OF LIFE AWARDS

The Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians held the twelfth annual "EMS Star of Life" Awards Ceremony in conjunction with the Ohio EMS Awards ceremony on May 19, 2010 at the Ohio Department of Public Safety/Ohio Department of Transportation Complex.
The event was designed to honor the accomplishments of EMS personnel from all over the state of Ohio during EMS week. The theme of EMS Week 2010 was "EMS: Anytime. Anywhere. We'll Be There." The EMS Star of Life Award honors the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of the medical 'front line.' This is the premier event during EMS week to recognize and honor Ohio's excellent pre-hospital providers.

The Education & EMS Division of Premier Health Care Services, Inc. established the Frank Giampetro Distinguished EMS Educator Award to recognize a dynamic educator who has made notable contributions to the Emergency Medical Services system thus improving the quality of care delivered to the citizens of Ohio.
The award was first presented to Frank Giampetro, EMT-P in 2004. Since then it has been presented to Mary Ann Forrester, EMT-B in 2005, Arthur Ghiloni, EMT-P in 2006, Thomas J. Long, RN, EMT-P, in 2007, Lou Ann Metz, RN, NREMT-P in 2008 and Ellie Moore, RN, EMT-P in 2009. The 2010 Frank Giampetro Distinguished EMS Educator Award was presented to Jennie Riedy, RN, NREMT-P.
