Early Addiction Intervention Training Available for ED Staff

On June 26, Kettering Health Network will present a training for implementing SBIRT in an emergency department setting. SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment) is a model for early intervention for patients who are at risk for developing addiction and/or substance abuse habits. This training will provide a thorough introduction to the SBIRT method and its implementation.

Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health, Violence and Injury Prevention Program, The Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership’s Prescription Drug Abuse Action Group, Ohio Health and Grant Medical Center’s Trauma Program, the training is free and open to emergency department staff and hospital administrators. 2.75 hours of continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, mental health counselors and social workers will be available.

Registration begins Monday, April 23 at 9am. Only 60 spots are open, so those interested are encouraged to register promptly. For more information on the training and registration instructions, view the event flyer.
